    Abstract
    ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of classroom management practices on learners’ academic performance in secondary schools in Nakaloke town council. The general objective of the study was to establish the effect of classroom management practices on learners’ academic performance in secondary schools in Nakaloke town council, Mbale district, Uganda. The study was guided by the following specific objectives; to examine the effect of management of teaching on learners academic performance in secondary schools in Nakaloke town council, to ascertain the effect of management of teaching materials on learners academic performance secondary schools in Nakaloke town council and to establish the effect management of physical facilities on learners academic performance in secondary schools in Nakaloke town council. The research used a cross-sectional study design. The study used purposive and simple random sampling techniques. The objectives of the study were tested using T-tests since they focused on establishing the effect between variables. The study found that out of the three predictors of learners’ academic performance that is management of teaching, management of teaching materials and management of physical facilities, management of teaching materials was the single stand alone predictor of learners’ academic performance in secondary schools in Nakaloke town council. Therefore, the two predictors that is management of teaching and management of physical facilities are excluded because the predictor is management of teaching materials and it is constant. The study recommended that teachers should ensure that they create positive learning environment, schools should ensure that teachers mange, prepare and make use of professional documents and they should be eager to manage physical facilities such as desks, tables, chairs, classroom environment among others and safe guard them carefully against any harm.
