    Pupils’high enrolment and Management of public Primary Schools under Universal basic education in Sokoto North, Nigeria

    Abstract
    Primary Education Is The Bedrock Of The Entire Educational System, As It Provides An Extensive Educational Preparation For All Spheres Of Life And Living Generally. It Is Indeed, The Foundation Of The Entire Education System In The Whole World And Therefore, Of Immense Importance Both To The Persons And The Society. This Study Investigated Pupils’ Enrolment And Management Of Public Primary Schools Under Universal Basic Education In Sokotonorth, Nigeria. The Specific Objectives That Guided The Study Are To Determine The Influence Of Enrolment On The Management Of Human Resources, School Infrastructure And Management Of Pupils’ Discipline. This Study Used A Cross-Sectional Research Design And Employed Simple Random And Purposive Sampling Techniques. A Total Number Of Three Hundred And Fifty Two (352) Questionnaires Were Administered To The Respondents From The Four (4) Sampled / Selected Primary Schools In Sokotonorth, Nigeria While A Total Of Three Hundred And Thirty Seven (337) Questionnaires Were Returned. Also, Head Teachers And Assistant Head Teachers Were Interviewed. Data Were Collected Through Triangulation In Which Both Qualitative And Quantitative Approaches Were Used. Frequencies, Percentages, Mean Ranking And Chi-Square Analysis Were Used To Summarise The Data. The Study Found Out Thatteachers Are Overloaded, Enrolment Does Not Match With The School’s Physical Infrastructures And Pupils’ Enrolment Has A High Influence On Discipline. Conclusions Are That Pupils’ Enrolment Influenced The Management Of Human Resource, School Infrastructure And Pupils’ Discipline. Therefore, It Is Recommended That Government Should Build More Schools, Rehabilitate The Dilapidated Buildings, Employ And Train More Teachers To Cope Up With The Increased Pupils’ Enrolment.
