    Primary school inspection and management in Dange-Shuni local government area, Sokoto state, Nigeria

    Abstract
    The study aimed at finding out the influence of primary schools’ inspection on schools’ management in Dange-Shuni local government Area, Sokoto state, Nigeria. The specific objectives that guided the study were to examine the influence of primary school inspection on human resources management; establish the influence of primary school inspection on records management; and find out the extent to which primary school inspection influence financial management. A survey design was used and questionnaires were used as the instruments to collect the data. A set of three hundred and thirty eight (338) questionnaires were administered to the respondents while two hundred and sixty eight (268) questionnaires were returned. A total of 30 school administrators/head teachers, 266 teachers in the 30 sampled primary schools and 42 inspectors of education formed the respondents for this research work. The sampling techniques were cluster, simple random and purposive sampling techniques. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics, cross tabulation and chi-square analysis. The study found that there is positive significant influence of primary schools’ inspections on schools’ human resources, records and financial managements. Conclusions are that; primary schools’ inspections greatly influenced human resources, records and financial management in Dange-Shuni Local Government area of Sokoto State, Nigeria. Therefore, the study recommends that teachers should give maximum cooperation and support to the school management to improve in the areas of teachings/learning methods. Headteachers should maintain proper records of activities in their respective primary schools at the end of the session for keeping and future use. Inspectors should intensify effort in scheduling timely visitation to primary schools to access, monitor, correct activities and provide information on performance of head teachers and teachers in order to achieve quality teaching and learning.
